Living the Dream

Day 9

Had this been a “normal” year, my husband and I would have made the long drive from Florida to New Hampshire, and would be settled in for the summer enjoying the lakes and mountains. This is our favorite time of year, spent boating, jet skiing, motorcycling, and spending time with some of our favorite people.

Not an ideal situation, but please don’t shed any tears for us. We’ve been blessed to have had many fabulous years at the lake, and look forward to continuing this tradition for a very, very long time to come.

Living the Dream with my sister-in-law and one of my best friends!

In the meantime we have the good fortune to live in one of the country’s most popular vacation spots. Our spectacular beaches boast powder-white sand and gorgeous teal colored water. Swaying palm trees and colorful tropical flowers adorn the landscape. We are less than 2 hours away from a host of popular vacation destinations, and we can open the living room slider for immediate access to our own poolside oasis anytime we wish.

And I have the company of my best friend, my devoted husband who has been my rock through good times and bad.

This upcoming week, beginning on Monday with my first chemo treatment, could possibly be one of the most difficult weeks I’ve ever had. But I have today, and I choose to seize it and live in gratitude. Jesus told us to not worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will have enough troubles of its own. Wise words that I choose to live by.
