Day 21
It’s going to be a great day! I awoke feeling better than I have for a week, my youngest son is home from Army commitments for 10 days, and my oldest son is on his way home for 5 days. And, it’s the 4th of July!
Today is set aside for us to celebrate the birth of our country, and to rejoice in the freedom that it offers us. Yes, our current political climate is cloudy and unsettled, as if a massive storm could catch us off guard at any moment – but we need to look past the politics and be grateful for the gifts we’ve been given.
It’s easy to take our liberties for granted, because we’ve never experienced the oppression that is commonplace throughout many parts of our world. But I implore you to spend some time reflecting on the true meaning of freedom. In truth, it transcends the physical and is available to all of humanity, regardless of nationality. The Bible says it best…..
John 8:32
“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Romans 6:6-7
“We know that our old self was crucified with Him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin.”
So on this 4th of July my family will transgress from our traditional lake celebration (unbroken for over 20 years) and spend a quiet day with our Florida family, thankful for each other and for the freedoms given to us by our country and our God.
I hope your day is blessed!
Kathy,
I’m sitting here on 4th holding my trembling dog during the fireworks watching and reading this beautiful blog thinking how proud I am of you. The strength you have displayed over these past weeks has been remarkable and your faith is at the root of it. God is taking care of you through all of this and the peace he offers us through faith is what has helped me throughout my journey. I look forward to being a part of your healing and even though i cannot be with you today, your in my thoughts and prayers! Love you 😘
Missing you today, but I’m surrounded by many of your family members. I’m so grateful to have you in my life…. a true testimony to God’s healing powers! He is my strength and it’s awesome to have people in my life that truly get it. Love you!
