Days 15 – 18
My day began on Wednesday with a quick sprint to the bathroom, and it became real. I had hoped that, since I wasn’t sick on my first day of chemo or the day after, maybe I had dodged a bullet and would feel OK moving forward. No such luck!
I spent most of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in bed, welcoming the out of body experience that sleep offers. During those 3 days I was able to relax and allow my body to go to work behind the scenes, combining the miracle of modern medicine with God’s perfect design. Who but He could ever create such a complex being, orchestrating each and every micro molecule to work together to produce growth and healing?
Today (Saturday) I’m feeling well enough to get out of bed. I’m still exhausted and feel yucky but it’s definitely an improvement over the last few days. Hopefully I’ll feel even better tomorrow.
Gratitude
Despite the difficulties we encounter in life, there is always something to be grateful for. And no matter what it is that you’re going through, I can promise you that your journey will be much easier when you embark on it with a good attitude. So as I deal with this I CHOOSE to focus on the blessings, some of which include:
- The time freedom that allows me to sleep whenever I need
- Anti-nausea medication that keeps the vomiting to a minimum
- My home, my bed – there are actually people out there going through this, and worse, who fight their battles on the streets (trust me…I live in Tampa)
- The support and love of my family and friends
- The peace and strength that can only come from God
- The chance the help you find that same peace and strength in your storms
Maybe you don’t have the great fortune to have been blessed in the same ways I have, but there has to be something you can be grateful for. Please share….
Hi Kathy,
I was saddened when Captain told me about your cancer. I have read most of your blog and know that you will get through this and be healthy again. You are a strong determined woman and you will persevere through this difficult time in your life. Life has thrown you and Captain some hard-balls, but you both have picked yourselves up and came out the other end stronger both physically and emotionally. You are definitely an inspiration to many people. I will be sending you positive vibes to help you in your daily struggles and I will keep you in my nightly prayers.
I believe your faith in God will bring you through this and you’ll be floating in your pool in no time.
Chuck & I bought a house in Tuftonboro, NH. I am looking forward to inviting you both to our new home and hanging out during the summer next year.
Godspeed my friend.
Love,
Marie
Hey Marie,
I appreciate the time you’ve taken to check out this site. Have no doubt, I will be floating in my pool very soon, lol. It’s all about faith, and I’m so grateful to have God by our sides in our good times as well as the bad.
Looking forward to visiting you in your new home. Congratulations!
Love,
Kathy
