Medical Marijuana – The Gift

Day 84

In my last post I promised to share the story of an amazing gift I recently received from a friend.  I haven’t seen or spoken to her since last summer, yet she started reading my posts and sent me a huge care package,

sparing no effort or expense. In pursuit of help for her son, she’s become quite an expert on the subject of medical marijuana and wanted to share her knowledge with me.

When I opened the package, I was instantly delighted by the way she had wrapped the inside of the box with bright, pink wrapping paper – and used tissue paper to individually wrap each goodie, including:

  • a book about medical marijuana and cancer
  • a jar of hemp oil, which provides some of the perks of cannibas but is legal in all U.S. states
  • printouts of information she’d obtained online
  • 2 hand-made head wraps
  • a beautifully scented “peace” candle
  • along with a slew of fun and carefully thought-out items

This amazing woman isn’t some debutante living in luxury and sipping mai-tais by her pool. She’s the dedicated, involved, loving mother of 3 teenaged boys – one with a debilitating form of autism. Her days are exhausting, yet she and her husband have managed to give every ounce of themselves to each one of their boys while actively advocating for assistance, services, and solutions for their autistic son. In doing so, she’s learned quite a bit about medical marijuana, which has helped her son in many ways.

When she heard what I was going through, she somehow found the time to put aside her own daily struggles and purchase, wrap, and mail this incredible surprise! We’ve been messaging back and forth, and when I asked her what I could do for her, the only response was “please pray that my son can have a good quality of life”.  I have added not only her son but her entire family, and other affected families, to my prayer list.

It all stirred up a seed that had been planted in my mind years ago and has been watered just often enough to sprout; the revelation that the subject of medical marijuana has nothing to do with morality and everything to do with helping people get relief from their suffering.

There are so many issues in our world that we’re completely powerless over, but I firmly believe that we can be catalysts to help others drastically improve the quality of their lives and those they love with this information. And I believe the first step is to bring more awareness to the fact that, in many situations, marijuana can be safer and more effective than traditionally prescribed medications.

Again, I ask you to please share with your little piece of the world. Social media, like any form of discussion, has the power to build up or to break down. Let’s use it to help build up our friends and their friends!

With Love,
