Medical Marijuana – a Moral Issue?

Day 79

While at the hospital for an outpatient procedure in May, I got a bit of secret advice from one of the doctors on my medical team. She told me that she rarely shares this – but felt drawn to tell me. “If I were you, I’d smoke a little bit of pot every day. It’s been shown to kill cancer cells.”

She added that she would usually never tell anybody to smoke anything, but that the benefits for me could outweigh the risks from smoking.

I live in a state that has legalized medical marijuana, and the thought of checking it out had occurred to me (more in another post….). Over the years I’ve had many in-depth conversations and have investigated this controversial subject but it’s never been a high enough priority for me to do anything but learn about it and discuss with a handful of family and friends.

Suddenly, though, the entire subject has resurfaced in my life. As I shared in the video above, I’ve had reservations about co-mingling this information and a faith-based website. I’ve waited for and received confirmation that this is not a moral issue and have realized that it’s too important to be ignored. In fact, there’s so much information out there that I’d like to cut through the buzz of opinions and focus on providing factual information.

All my life, I’ve felt compelled to help others, but lately it feels like I’ve been stuck in receiving mode. I’ve received cards, flowers, a huge package from Omaha Steaks, an edible arrangement, jewelry, books, hand-written letters, and messages of love through a multitude of platforms. It’s been amazing and has brought me tremendous joy. But recently I was truly humbled by the receipt of a well-planned, thoughtful care package from a friend.

I was in awe, and I’m pretty sure you will be as well. You’re going to love the story (promise it will be my next post), and I’m going to share with you how God used it to take my little pitiful life and shake it up with a big dream. And I promise you’ll find out what it has to do with medical marijuana.

This is what I’m asking from you. There is a huge community of people who are suffering, and even worse – watching their children suffer – with horrific pain and diseases that could be substantially eased (and some cured) through the use of cannibis. The majority of them are either uneducated in regards to the subject, or are allowing fear to move them to ignore this potentially life-altering gift.

As I continue to add testimonials, information, and resources I need your help in sharing. If you use your web of contacts and ask them to subscribe and share, together we can help countless families be blessed a with better quality of life.

Your continued support is greatly appreciated.

Be Well,
