Day 22
Yesterday was a great day! Yes, we were forced to divert from our traditional lake holiday, but I was blessed to have both my boys home, and to spend the day with our Florida family.
I felt almost like myself. My taste buds, which had been chemically tainted and causing everything to taste gross, seemed to be back to normal. The food tasted amazing, and I had one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Each bite was heavenly! The sun was blazing, and the pool water was crystal clear and welcoming.Several times throughout the day, I found myself truly enjoying moments of complete clarity. The incredible beauty of my niece’s 3 year old, screeching in delight as she was tossed into the air and caught seconds before hitting the water. Ten minutes of watching my youngest son and niece’s brother-in-law trying to kill a wasp (they were completely goofy and it was hilarious…) The interactions between my boys, who no longer have the chance to be together very often. The love, the easiness of being myself and allowing others to be themselves.
In those moments, the colors of the day came alive and time seemed to stand still as I absorbed each second of joy through more conscious eyes. I was reminded that regardless of circumstances, there is always something beautiful in our lives. When we focus on whatever joy we can find in our present moment, and disregard the cares of tomorrow, life can be amazing.
